You are the Dream-Maker

Dreams are what Freud called the royal road to the unconscious and if we take Freud at his word than that means we must take dreams seriously - probably the most serious- if we are to gain access to the unconscious mind. The unconscious mind being the place where what is out of awareness, repressed, and unlived aspects of our soul remain.

Dreams are the product of an “Other agency” within us that reveal our unconscious selves through the method of concealment. Psychoanalysts would say the unconscious is what makes the dream, but I think this way of thinking overlooks the importance to me of the difference between the repressed contents themself and the Other who reveals the repressed. It is this distinction for me which reveals the spirituality at the heart of dreamwork. To be confronted with the dream is to be confronted with your soul, your authentic, divine self, which you are but also at times tend to be distant from. In other words you are the Dreammaker. This means that every time you sleep, you are having a spiritual experience.

In this podcast I give an overview of what dreams are from a psychological and spiritual perspective, and ways to decode the symbolism that is present in dreams.
